Winter Steelhead fishing starts up in January and runs to the end of April. The Chilliwack River of the Fraser valley is famous for its healthy winter run and good Steelhead fishing. The Chilliwack River has hatchery fish as well as wild or native fish with an average size of about 10 or 11 pounds. Steelhead in the mid teens are common and a few fish in the 20-pound range are caught every season! Steelhead are awesome fighters, but they are known for being very elusive and a good guide will make all the difference.
